When must I pay the upfront deposit?
A deposit of £1500 is required for all ‘attended’ services and must be paid on receipt of the draft arrangements & subsequent commencement of contract, unless otherwise agreed by us in writing (for example where an application is made to the Social Fund or the account balance is being paid from the bank account of the person who has died).
How long will I have to pay the final balance?
The funeral account is due for payment within fourteen days of receipt of invoice, unless otherwise agreed by us in writing.
The invoice is usually issued within 7 days of the funeral but may be issued before the funeral should you require e.g. to submit a claim to the DWP for financial assistance; or if you are paying for the funeral from the bank account of the person who has died.
What are my options for paying the deposit and final balance?
We take payment by cash, cheque, bank transfer or card payment.
Will any additional charges apply is I don’t pay the bill on time?
If you fail to pay us in full on the due date, we may charge you interest:
- at a rate of 4% above our bank’s Base Rate from time to time in force;
- calculated (on a daily basis) from the date of our account until payment;
- compounded on the first day of each month; and
- before and after any Judgment (unless a Court orders otherwise).
We may recover the cost of taking legal act
If I change my mind after engaging you as my funeral director, will you charge me (and if so, how much)?
If we or you terminate your instructions you may, depending upon the reasons for termination, be asked to pay a reasonable amount based upon the work carried out up to the time your termination is received.
