I used this undertakers recently for the second time. I would highly recommend the undertakers - they went above and beyond to make the service and day the way I wanted it to be. However, what has really disappointed me was to receive the final bill and letter from Chris Lodge stating “I would like to offer my sincere condolences for the recent loss of your”…. Then they named the wrong person. It was so distressing. Really disappointed that the office of the head of the company made such a bad error.

Maureen was amazing. My father died at the beginning of March 2020 and the funeral was one of the last before lock down. As the rules changed hourly Maureen made sure we were kept informed and was apologetic as our service shrunk to a few people without cars and not allowing the sons to be pall bearers. She was efficient yet sensitive to the ever changing situation.

Barnes and Sons Askew Road took care of my mother who died 18 months ago.just before the funeral I called and asked Maureen to please cut me a lock of her hair. I went in last week and she was able to find it immediately and was as kind, empathetic and understanding as she had been during the time after my mother’s death. Maureen is the heart and soul of Barnes and Sons in Askew Road. She is kind, caring and always goes the extra mile. Hugely grateful to her for making a horrendous time copeable with. Thank you Maureen. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her.

I'd like to echo the sentiments expressed by the previous reviewer Bethany. Losing my father recently, was a very difficult experience and without the aid of Barnes & Sons (especially Maureen) I don't know how I would have coped. They were very patient in their methods, I never felt rushed or pressured. From the first engagement to the last, the importance was put on my father, his family and myself. They even offered aftercare and advice regarding the grieving process, which was greatly appreciated. I got a real sense of caring from all those who assisted us in the passing, both before and after the funeral. From the bottom of my heart, i thank you all. P.S. A personal thank you to Maureen for providing me with a wonderful poem by Ellen Brenneman. Those words comforted me when low.
