Colin McGinley Independent Family Funeral Service is an independent, family-run funeral directors located at 235A Acklam Road, Middlesbrough. The Acklam branch was established in 2014 when Colin McGinley decided to rebrand and expand, opening this funeral home to serve the Middlesbrough community. Since opening, the branch has grown from a small team of four to a dedicated team of twelve members, including family members from both the McGinley and Savage families.
The branch is led by Garry Savage, supported by his wife Tracy, and a wider team of caring professionals. Testimonials from families highlight the exceptional care, kindness, and compassion shown by Garry and his colleagues, who are praised for going the extra mile to ensure everything runs smoothly during difficult times. The team is committed to providing a professional, personal, and caring service tailored to the individual wishes of each family.
Colin McGinley Funeral Service also partners with Golden Charter, one of the UK's largest funeral plan providers, allowing families to pre-plan their funeral arrangements with confidence. The Middlesbrough branch can be reached by telephone on (01642) 826 222, and is open Monday to Friday 8:30am–4:30pm, with Saturday and Sunday appointments available on request.
"In such a tragic and heartbreaking time, he made everything feel that little bit easier to cope with. Gary also helped organise the wake by recommending buffet services and local venues. His down to earth, yet respectful manner was everything we needed as a family."
— Ian Sills (about Gary)
"Gary was so compassionate, I almost feel as though we're friends at the end of all of this. Gary didn't rush or advise to add on a lot of extras, being authentic and honest in what he thought we may want and need. He was also readily available at all times."
— Annie Hunter (about Gary)
"They also made it easy for me to see my mum whenever I wanted, something I'll always be so grateful for. All of the staff showed such professionalism, grace and empathy throughout."
— Megan Hanrahan (about Gary)
"Garry also booked the venue for his wake. He organised the food which was amazing and arranged for Edwina to do his beautiful flowers. He made what was a heartbreaking time a lot easier for me and my mam. He made us laugh through a difficult time and often checked that we were OK."
— Karen Eilertsen (about Garry Savage)
"Your guidance felt less like a professional service and more like a steady hand during our darkest hours. The empathy, patience, and respect you showed toward our customs gave our family immense peace of mind. You ensured my Mum was treated with the utmost dignity, and for that, we will be forever grateful."
— Dee Patel (about Gary Savage)
"Words cannot express how much Garry cared for my family during a recent bereavement. He went above and beyond at every step. His compassion, professionalism, and genuine kindness will never be forgotten. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you, Garry."
— emma bowcock (about Garry)
