Garvin's Funeral Service is an independent, family-owned business with deep roots in the local community, having been established in the late 1800s and passed through four generations of the Garvin family. Originally located on Main Street, Castledawson — the first bespoke funeral premises in Mid-Ulster — the business relocated to its current modern, purpose-built funeral home on Ballyronan Road in Magherafelt. Jordan Kennedy, who joined in 2007, assumed full control of the business in 2016 following William Garvin's retirement, and continues to uphold the family's tradition of personalised, caring service.
The Magherafelt funeral home is a tastefully decorated, modern facility featuring an office and reception area, a wreath and memorial showroom, an arrangement suite, three viewing rooms, a coffin selection room, a large service room with seating for 90 people, and private parking for 70 cars. The team is also able to accommodate wakes on-site, providing mourners with tea, coffee, and biscuits.
Garvin's Funeral Service proudly serves the communities of Magherafelt, Castledawson, Moneymore, Coagh, Maghera, and beyond. Services include funeral arrangements, prearranged and prepaid funeral plans, floral tributes, and monuments and memorials. The business is a member of the National Association of Funeral Directors and is available 24 hours a day.
