What is the size of any upfront deposit required?
We respectfully request a 50% deposit is paid within 5 working days of the funeral being arranged. Depending on the type of funeral and the services you request this figure may vary from £2,000 to £2,500 or more, based on the choices you make. This deposit mainly goes towards covering the third-party payments. Please note ‘Unattended funerals’ require full payment in advance.
When must I pay the upfront deposit?
Within 5 working days of the funeral being arranged. If the funeral will take place before the 5 days, then we request the deposit within 48 hours of arranging the funeral. If this is not possible, we ask that you inform our colleague who will be able to offer further advice on this matter.
How long will I have to pay the final balance?
We send out our invoice a couple of days after the funeral has taken place, you then have 28 days to pay the account in full. If you are experiencing any financial difficulty please talk to us so that we can offer help and advice. In certain circumstances we may be able to offer the option to pay by instalments.
What are my options for paying the deposit and final balance?
Our preferred payment option is a BACS transfer from your bank account to ours, but we also accept credit/debit cards, and cheques. If you are experiencing any financial difficulty, please talk to us so that we can offer help and advice.
Will any additional charges apply is I don’t pay the bill on time?
In our Terms and Conditions we reserve the right to charge interest on any late payment at 4% above the base lending rate of the Co-op Bank PLC, calculated on a daily basis.

If I change my mind after engaging you as my funeral director, will you charge me (and if so, how much)?
In the unlikely event that you no longer wanted us to act for you, you can cancel our contract. At this point and with immediate effect you would be responsible for the payment for any services and products we have provided. If a service has not been provided in full we would charge a percentage of the relevant fee/amount in line with the percentage that we had completed.
