"The staff at James Hawes & Goodchild have gone way above and beyond their call of duty. I am truly grateful to Ray, Kirsty and all the team for helping us give my Dad the send off he could only dream of."
— james stanley (about Ray)
"Your kindness and dedication meant a great deal to me and my family and we will always appreciate the way you helped us honour my aunt's memory. You were always available to answer questions and guide me through each step, which made a very difficult time much easier."
— Kathy Kalarus (about Denise)
"I had been to 2 previous funeral homes before visiting here and they stood out by far. The compassion and care they put into everything is outstanding. They made special arrangements for us as a family which we truly appreciate."
— Angel Kelly (about Kirsty)
"Even little touches like wearing green ties to represent Ireland was a nice thing to have done. My mum would be proud of how she was sent off β and three years prior to that my dad as well. I cannot recommend a better Funeral Home."
— Alan McManus (about Ceanne)
"The coffin bearers even offered to wear red ties/details to reflect that my grandad's favourite colour was red β just small details that really meant a lot to us. We were repeatedly reassured not to worry, and to allow them to take some of our stress away."
— Vy Do (about Ray)
"Tony was amazing, he came round my house on several occasions as I was really struggling with the loss of my dad. He just got what it was to be lost and not knowing what to do. He was amazing with my mum, sat with her on a weekend despite having his own family to look after."
— Harriet Kite (about Tony)

I had a very upsetting experience outside James Hawes & Goodchild Funeral Directors. 30/3/2026 at around 13:25 I pulled over to park and, because of the curved curb, didnβt realise I was partially blocking the entrance. When a funeral vehicle pulled up, I waved him to pass, but he shouted aggressively, βYouβre blocking my car park, MOVE,β and later called me a βmoron.β For parking on the double yellow lines. I would have moved immediately if approached politely. Being shouted at and insulted over a simple mistake was completely unnecessary and unprofessional. Businesses dealing with the public should always speak with basic courtesy, especially in sensitive situations. Absolutely Disgusting behaviour!

I would like to say a heartfelt thank you to Denise for the care, professionalism and compassion you showed while arranging my aunts funeral. Throughout the entire process, your communication was clear, thoughtful and reassuring. You were always available to answer questions and guide me through each step, which made a very difficult time much easier for our family. We are truly grateful for the respect and attention to detail you gave. Everything was handled beautifully and we are very happy with the support you provided. Your kindness and dedication meant a great deal to me and my family and we will always appreciate the way you helped us honour my aunts memory. So much appreciated.

Exceptional service from beginning to end for my Nanβs funeral. Denise and the team were incredibly supportive throughout, and even followed up afterwards to make sure we were doing okay, which meant a lot. I would highly recommend them.

The level of service received here was incredible. I had no idea on what to do but Tony was amazing, he came round my house on several occasions as I was really struggling with the loss of my dad. He just got what it was to be lost and not knowing what to do. He was amazing with my mum, sat with her on a weekend despite having his own family to look after. His team on the day were incredibly professional. I'm so thankful to everyone there.
