Little and Caine Ltd is one of the few family run, independent funeral directors serving the Barrow-in-Furness, Dalton, Grange and Ulverston areas of West Cumbria. Founded by Gilbert Caine in 1948, the business has grown through generations of dedication and expertise. In the 1980s, the funeral business of L V Little & Son and Gilbert Caine amalgamated to form Little and Caine Ltd, and today the company is led by Paul Caine, a third-generation member of the family, alongside family members Pamela and Helen.
The team at Little and Caine understands that the loss of a loved one is a deeply painful event, and they work hard to provide comfort and support during this difficult time. Their highly trained and sensitive staff offer a genuinely caring service that focuses on the needs and welfare of each family they serve. With nearly 600 funerals carried out each year, the firm has built an excellent and unrivalled reputation in the Furness area.
Little and Caine offer a comprehensive range of services including traditional funerals for both burial and cremation, use of their Chapel of Rest, funeral plans, memorial services, and assistance with registration of death and all associated paperwork. Their Barrow-in-Furness branch is located at 1–3 Dalkeith Street and can be reached on 01229 820747.
"Duncan is lovely and gives all his time and attention in getting arrangements in order. Little and Caine are in my opinion the best in the town, they did my mum's funeral and did us all proud."
— Dawn Johnston (about Duncan)
"The gentleman who took my Dad was respectful and talked us through what was going to happen when he was in their care. They cared for and looked after my dad right through to his cremation. Thank you Pam! My dad's funeral was everything he wanted and more!"
— Florrie Pearson (about Pam)
"They were extremely professional but did not make me feel that they were just running a business. Thank you Mike, Neil and Duncan, and a big thank you to Judith and Natalie who work in the office and looked after me when I was struggling to cope."
— Evangelia (about Mike, Neil, Duncan, Judith, Natalie)
"If I could have given Little and Caine 7 stars I would have. Mark was superb and demonstrated that there are still people within the service industry who believe in good customer service. Took care of everything letting our family grieve without interference."
— Paul and Jo Hamilton (about Mark)
"Mark & his team have been second to none. They have an amazing understanding of people's needs. So professional, even spoke to us after hours and weekends. Nothing was too much. A massive thank you Mark for everything you have done and made this awful time more comforting."
— Sarah Nelson (about Mark)
"At the worst time of my life...losing my precious mum, Paul and his team were amazing. Having never had to organise a funeral before I was guided every step of the way. They were sympathetic and understanding. Even answering my phone calls on a Bank Holiday with my endless queries."
— Elaine Rollinson (about Paul)
