M Coghlan Ltd is a family-owned, independent funeral director based at 129 Forton Road, Gosport, Hampshire. The company has been serving the local community since 1861, when it was founded by Michael Coghlan, and is currently run by Richard Coghlan, the fifth generation of the family. In 2019, the firm acquired E.J. Crossland Ltd in Gosport, a business established in 1857, bringing a combined heritage of nearly 380 years of experience in the profession to the Forton Road branch.
The Gosport branch is proud to offer a brand-new ceremony room, providing a modern, flexible space for celebrations of life and memorial services. With provision for music, video screens, and the freedom to personalise the setting, it offers a meaningful alternative to crematorium or cemetery chapels. The team prides itself on giving personal attention to every funeral, accommodating a wide range of wishes with compassion and professionalism.
M Coghlan Ltd is a member of both the National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD) and the National Society of Allied & Independent Funeral Directors (SAIF), upholding strict codes of practice. Services offered include direct cremation, pre-paid funeral plans, floral tributes, memorials, and a choice of coffins ranging from veneer and solid wood to eco-friendly options such as wicker and bamboo.
