Safe Hands Funeral Services is an independent, family-owned funeral directors based in Storrington, West Sussex, situated amidst the beautiful South Downs countryside, just a 10-minute drive from Worthing. Founded and owned by Penny Strachan, alongside her partner Adam, the business brings a combined 35 years of experience in funeral care, with a heartfelt commitment to providing a professional, affordable, and deeply personal service to families across Sussex and beyond.
The funeral home is located at The Forge, 38 West Street, Storrington, offering a modern, relaxed, and informal environment for families to discuss arrangements. The premises include a large onsite mortuary with specialised refrigeration, a private chapel of rest, and Forge Chapel — an onsite private service chapel accommodating up to 23 people. Crucially, Safe Hands ensures that once a loved one is in their care, they remain at the Storrington premises until the day of the service.
Safe Hands prides itself on genuine, compassionate care without hidden costs or excessive mark-ups. Families are attended to by the same person from the very first call through to the day of the service. The team is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and can also visit families in their own homes to make arrangements at their convenience.

Safe hands Funeral Service provided an exceptional and deeply personal service for both my mother's and my father's funerals. From start to finish, everything was handled with sensitivity, dignity and genuine care. Penny, in particular, made the whole process much easier - she was approachable, kind and nothing was ever too much trouble. Would highly reccomend.

From the very first call to Penny at Safe Hands Funeral Services, through to the day of the funeral, she turned what was an incredibly painful time into something truly special for our family. We had never arranged a funeral before and were faced with the sudden, unexpected loss of a loved one. Penny guided us gently through every step, meeting with me the same day and helping with all the decisions that needed to be made. She kept in regular contact by phone, text, and email, always available to answer questions and offer advice. Nothing was ever too much trouble. On the day, Penny came to our home and supported us as we followed the Land Rover hearse which was a perfect and personal touch for my brother-in-law, to the church and burial. It was exactly the kind of send-off we had hoped for. What makes Safe Hands so special is that it’s independent, personal, and never about sales or endless brochures. It was simple, dignified, and full of care, exactly what you need when saying goodbye to someone you love. I cannot recommend Penny and Safe Hands highly enough if you ever find yourself needing to arrange a funeral.
