Kate, Roz and John helped us with an excellent send off for my Dad. Nothing was too much trouble for them, even with the testing times of Covid and social distancing! Would highly recommend their service.

Highly recommend - Choose Shires!!Losing someone is difficult in any circumstances but especially when it is due to Covid-19 and there are restrictions in place. After calling several funeral directors, with many not allowing a service or only offering one type of coffin, I thankfully came across Shires. As soon as I spoke to Donna and Kate, I instantly felt at ease and they were both happy to answer any questions I had.We went with Shires Letchworth branch and honestly, I cannot fault the team there!!! Admittedly, I am a bit of a perfectionist and I can assure you, every single element of the service they provide was perfect!!I spoke mostly with Lisa throughout the three weeks of arranging the funeral and I am so grateful to have had her by my side. From the first phone call, she was so comforting and warm in her approach. Having never arranged a funeral before, its safe to say I had no idea what I was doing but thankfully Lisa guided me through everything. Due to my weird and wonderful requests, we spoke daily and trust me when I say, nothing was EVER too much!! From a personalised coffin from elsewhere, to taking fingerprints, to arranging a video of my beautiful Nan to end the service, to a red double decker routemaster bus as transport.. Lisa arranged it all! And the little extra touches she thought of, such as staff on the day wearing my Nan's favourite colour and coming outside the office to wave as we drove passed, was so special to us.On the day, the funeral director (John) and his staff (Stewart, George & Beth) made my Nan's wish come true and brought her home for four hours. When they arrived, they were so condoling and understanding. They were dressed in the most beautiful suits with pin stripped trousers and pink ties - they looked so smart! John instantly put at ease and his little witty remarks, lightened the day. He was there by our side every step of the way and made sure the day ran smoothly.Whilst it was the saddest day of my life, it was so unbelievably beautiful. It was a perfect send off, for the most precious lady and it is all thanks to Shires.I would highly recommend them. There service cannot be faulted and there fee's are so reasonable!! Whilst I hope we are not in a position where we have to arrange a funeral again, if I did, Shires would ALWAYS be my first choice.
