W. J. Farrier & Son Ltd is an independent, family-owned funeral directors serving Folkestone, Dover, Hythe, and the surrounding areas of Kent. Established in 1948 by Walter (Jack) Farrier and his wife Olive, the business has grown over decades into the longest-serving family funeral directors in Dover, Folkestone, and Hythe. The Folkestone branch, located at 37 Bouverie Road West, is one of three locations operated by the family, and notably stands as Folkestone and Hythe's only family-run funeral directors.
The business has been passed down through generations of the Farrier family, with James Farrier joining in the late 1990s and continuing the tradition of personal, compassionate care. Today, the company is solely owned and run by James Farrier, Lynda Bright, Sarah Hignett, and Julie Farrier, all of whom were born in the local area and continue to live and work there.
W. J. Farrier & Son Ltd offers a comprehensive range of funeral services including traditional burials, cremations, direct cremations, and repatriation. As proud members of both SAIF (Society of Allied and Independent Funeral Directors) and the NAFD (National Association of Funeral Directors), they are committed to the highest standards of professionalism, care, and community trust. Funeral plans are available through Golden Charter.
"Anne was treated with such respect and your kindness to me unbelievable. Well done team and a million thanks."

"Julie did an amazing job sorting the repatriation of my grandmother to Greece, which took a lot of stress off of myself and the family by making the process seem so seamless."
— Elliott Gerald-Duffey (about Julie)
"After a torrid time with the coroners office Julie and her team done everything in their stride making life that little easier at such a traumatic time for the Family. They made us feel at ease, no pressure and done exactly what we asked."
— Alan W (about Julie)
"She guided me through the process of organising my Mum's funeral from start to finish gently and sensitively and made what was a difficult job at such a sad time so much easier. Nothing seemed too much trouble and I can't thank her enough."
— Jane Bushell (about Sonia)
"From the first moment I stepped inside Farriers, I felt supported and cared for. On the day of the funeral, I felt that it was a friend leading us all into Hawkinge Crematorium."
— Gwen Hedley (about Lys)
"Quite possibly the most compassionate company that I have ever dealt with. Julie organised the funeral for our dad and everything went perfectly. I can never thank her enough for her attention to detail, chasing coroners when I was incredibly frustrated, and just being there every time I called to answer questions."
— Samantha Riccoboni (about Julie)
