Archway Funeral Service is a family-run funeral director based at 16 Chapel Street, Ripley, Derbyshire, serving the local community of the Amber Valley since 1987. Proprietor Terry Daniel, who was born and bred in nearby Crich, established his own funeral service at the tender age of 18 and has been dedicated to providing compassionate, personalised care to families across Derbyshire for over 40 years. Terry and his wife Andrea continue to live in the local area and are well-known and trusted members of the community.
The Ripley premises, which include a chapel of rest, private arrangement rooms, and a mortuary, have undergone a major refurbishment to offer a first-class service at sensible prices. Terry personally selects and hand-finishes each coffin, using environmentally friendly materials. Archway Funeral Service has conducted funerals all over the country, from simple, quiet services to magnificent military ceremonies with horse-drawn carriages.
Approved and regulated by leading industry bodies, including the NAFD, Archway Funeral Service prides itself on treating every client and their family as an individual. Terry and his staff are always available to help with all aspects of funeral planning, including headstones, vases, plaques, catering, and suitable inscriptions.
"Everyone at the funeral mentioned how brilliant they were — so the recommendation doesn't just come from me, but everyone else who came in contact with them."
— Andrea Whysall (about Terry)
"The mix of professionalism and humility was exactly what was needed to get us through the day. Thank you for helping me get through my first ever day as a pallbearer."
— Paul Ackroyd (about Terry)
"When things got tough for me he would make us smile and it lightened the journey and helped us cope. Nothing was too much bother for them. ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING SERVICE."
— Andrea Whysall (about Terry)
"I lost my mother at a very young age. Terry was kind, compassionate and supportive to my family. In life and death, Archway funeral service will treat you with dignity, compassion and the utmost respect."
— Kimberley Calladine (about Terry Daniels)
"My dad died very suddenly and unexpectedly. I was lost — I didn't know what to do or say or where to start. They were warm and supportive and genuinely kind. Thank you Archway from the bottom of my heart."
— Emma Taylor (about Terry)
"My Nan died very suddenly. Shocked, heartbroken, I rang Terry not knowing the protocol, what to do, where to turn. Terry's words to me were 'don't you worry my little duck, I'll fetch our Bett home.' Archway funeral services are beyond outstanding — they are the epitome of what a funeral home should be."
— Kimberley Calladine (about Terry Daniels)
