Peter Barnes Funerals Ltd is an independent, family-run funeral directors based in the village of Murrow, just outside Wisbech, Cambridgeshire. Founded in 1951 by the late Alfred Sidney Barnes, the business has been proudly serving Wisbech and its surrounding rural communities for over 75 years. Peter Barnes took over the business following his father's passing in 1962 and has owned and managed it ever since, supported by his wife Sheila and more recently by his daughter Diane.
As a truly independent family business, Peter Barnes Funerals is not answerable to shareholders and is free to offer a personalised range of services tailored to each family's wishes — whether traditional, simple, or more elaborate. Their compassionate and respectful approach ensures families receive genuine support and guidance at every stage of the funeral arrangement process, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Peter Barnes Funerals is a member of both the National Society of Allied and Independent Funeral Directors (SAIF) and the National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD), adhering to strict professional codes of practice. They also offer pre-paid funeral plans through Golden Charter, authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.
