Attended Funeral

The aim of the Competition and Markets Authority Funeral Markets Order 2021 is to make it easier for customers to access the prices of funeral directors and crematorium operators and to help increase customers’ awareness of the total cost of the services they may require.

These provisions are also intended to help customers to compare the prices and services of different funeral directors and crematorium operators so that they can assess what best suits their needs and budget.

The criteria for the Attended Funeral:

Taking care of all necessary legal and administrative arrangements.
Collecting and transporting the deceased person from the place of death (normally within 15 miles of the funeral director’s premises) into the funeral director’s care.
Care of the deceased person before the funeral in appropriate facilities.
Providing a suitable coffin.
Viewing of the deceased person for family and friends, by appointment with the Funeral Director.
Provision of a hearse or other appropriate vehicle to take the deceased person direct to the agreed cemetery or crematorium (normally within 20 miles of the funeral director’s premises) at a date and time agreed between the customer and funeral director.

What is the size of any upfront deposit required?

On account payment of £2000.00 is required for all funerals or details of solicitors. For the direct cremations, full payment is required before the funeral

When must I pay the upfront deposit?

The on account to be received before the funeral date unless solicitors are dealing with the finances and have been verified by us.

How long will I have to pay the final balance?

We send a final account to you a week after the funeral has taken place and you then have 30 days to settle the balance.

What are my options for paying the deposit and final balance?

Credit or Debit Cards Online Cash Cheque

Will any additional charges apply is I don’t pay the bill on time?

No charges for late payment but charges may be incurred the account is taken to a debt collection agency or court

If I change my mind after engaging you as my funeral director, will you charge me (and if so, how much)?

We do not charge a cancellation fee but depending on how far we have got with the arrangements for your loved one, any charges we have incurred will be passed on to you or your new funeral director, ie any removal fees.
