W. J. Farrier & Son Ltd is an independent, family-owned funeral directors based at 161 London Road, Dover, Kent. Established in 1948 by Walter (Jack) Farrier and his wife Olive, the business originally operated from their home on London Road in Dover, where funeral arrangements were made in the front room and Jack converted a back room into a chapel of rest. This makes them the longest-serving family funeral directors in Dover and the surrounding area.
Over the decades, the business grew steadily under the stewardship of Jack's son Derek and his wife Lynda, expanding into dedicated premises and acquiring their own fleet of funeral vehicles. By the late 1990s, Derek and Lynda's son James joined the business, continuing the proud family tradition into a third generation. Today, the business is solely owned and run by James Farrier, Lynda Bright, Sarah Hignett, and Julie Farrier.
The Dover branch serves as the company's head office and provides a comprehensive range of funeral services including traditional funerals, burial, cremation, direct cremation, and repatriation. W. J. Farrier & Son Ltd are proud members of both the NAFD and SAIF, reflecting their commitment to the highest standards of professionalism and care. They also offer Golden Charter funeral plans, allowing families to plan ahead with confidence.
